Church Law requires at least 3 months notice of marriage. Most couples give much more because of the reception.

Pastoral Preparation

This involves attendance at one of the Marriage Preparation Courses run by the Archdiocese, this is for all parties regardsless of their different religous beliefs. Generally these are one day courses, very comprehensive and helpful to all long term relationships.

Dispensation for Marriage

In case of a mixed marriage of religions, a dispensation from the local ordinary is required. making this application the non-Catholic party must consent to have children from this marriage baptized and brought up as Catholics.

ANNULMENT IS REQUIRED FOR DIVORCEES TO GET MARRIED IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

Documents Required

1. If born in Australia, a Birth Certificate not an extract must be produced.

2. The Catholic party is required to produce a Copy of Baptism Certificate.

1. Use of St Mary's Church 

This includes : Professionally prepared flowers, Bows for the pews, use of the organ & sound system amd ringing of the Church bell.

Definite booking entails $100, if the booking is cancelled $50 of the deposit will be refunded.

2. Celebrant fees

This includes all the paper work for both Church and Goverment, Official Marriage Certificate, registering with the Registra Office and four meetings with the Celebrant.

A $100.00 deposit needs to be sent to St Mary's within a month of your booking to keep your date and time. Since we have a huge and aging church to maintain, we are dependent on weddings to do so.

The final sum is settled at the rehearsal.

Music & Song

On your wedding day you may want your music to speak of the true meaning of this day. Since a church wedding is a religious experience only music of a religious nature would be appropriate for the occasion. This is a concern when CD's are played instead of "live music". So called "pub music" should never be considered as siutable for a church wedding.

Cameras & Videos

Photograpers should be reminded beforehand to act with due discretion and not to distract from the ceremony taking place.

Try to persuade videographers not to use bright lights.
